OK, sound it out syllable by syllable. Nen...rin...pi...ku...

Fukuoka is the host of this year's "Nenrinpiku", which is a sports competition for seniors. It comes from the words nenpai, which means "senior citizen" and rinpiku, which is part of the word "Olympic". Put them together and there you have it.


Basically it is an event that started in 1988 and is held every year. Participants are over 60 years old and participate in different events: gateball, table tennis, tennis, etc.

I wonder if E7 and I would want to participate in this when we get to be that age?
